FEATURED ARTICLE: Learn from Everyone!
Hello everyone! Thank you all for your feedback on our new AMA Kung Fu video series. Even though it is in its infancy, it looks promising. Our goal is to teach you some fundamental basics of Kung Fu and APPLY them for practical use. I am withholding a great deal of instructional information because #1 I want you to participate in classes to get the full effect and #2 nothing of value is truly free. Plus, there is only so much you can learn from videos before you will need actual formal training.
We have a new video up on the site for you. It is a weaving drill that teaches us to maintain our "center" and constantly "stick" to the opponent, dominating them. Sometimes circumstances aren't in our favor and we have to fight in a close quarter. In these situations we call upon styles like Kung Fu. It's important to note that I've adapted Kung Fu techniques and converted them into Applied Martial Arts, so they are AMA exclusive.
I prefer to fight on the inside, really close to the opponent. Some fighters prefer to fight from a distance. I like to invade their personal bubble and destroy them. That's just my preference. If you're my student, you will learn that bias from me and therefore you will get used to close quarter fighting.
Don't learn from just me, though, because you do not want to be ignorant. I encourage you to seek out other styles and find your own personal flavor. I'm not trying to belittle myself by any means. I'm just acknowledging the fact that I can only offer so much before you will want to learn from other sources. Just don't get caught up in one instructor's "web," wherein he will discourage you to learn from other styles. That's bad. Learning from everyone is good. Nobody is a perfect instructor, therefore you cannot learn EVERYTHING from one person. In your lifetime you will never learn EVERYTHING, but what you do learn make sure you master it and specialize in it.
Thank you all for your continued support!
