RBSD Instructors VS. TMA Instructors and Contracts

If you get the chance, read this newsletter article from the mailing list:

For the record, we have equal respect for TMA and RBSD.  I personally am training in Japanese Jiujitsu, Brazilian JiuJitsu, and Shito-Ryu Karate.  All of those are traditional martial arts.  I love them all.  Not completely equally, but close.

Admittedly, I once tried the Southard Combat System, but then found it to be a complete joke.  The "grand master" is nothing more than a McDojo overlord.

Also for the record, we believe good contracts are good and bad contracts are bad.  Applied Martial Arts does not incorporate contracts because we just don't want to.  We want people to choose whether martial arts is a priority to them without making them commit to a legally binding contract.  As said in the newsletter, martial arts IS NOT a priority to most people like marriage, academia, and parenthood.  Therefore, contracts that bind them (and send them to collection agencies if they don't pay) seem awfully immoral and unethical.  However, as also stated in my last response, there can be good contracts with good intentions that still let people breathe.
